​           - Alla Letfullina presents the Nanoenergy team research work at the IMLB 2018 conference in Kyoto, Japan.

           - Alla Letfullina presents her research to legislators at the General Assembly in Raleigh, North Carolina.
           - Prof. Sung-Jin Cho has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 Intellectual Property Award. Congratulations!
           - Manuscript entitled “Reassessing the high frequency limit effect on ionic conductivity of solid state electrolytes" is accepted to                    Sustainable Energy & Fuels. Great job Jamal and Dr. Cho!

           - Pankaj Alaboina and Jamal Uddin have earned a Six Sigma certificate. Good job guys!
           - The Nanoenergy lab participates at the North Carolina Science festival by demonstrating the working principles of the battery to               the visiting children.         
           - Alla Letfullina won for her poster titled "Understanding of Molecular Gyration Using Dinitrile Membrane Electrolyte" at the 6th                   Annual Graduate Research and Creativity Expo Poster Show hosted by the UNCG Graduate School.
           - Pankaj Alaboina won first place for his poster titled "Protective Encapsulation of Lithium Metal Anodes Enabled by ZrO2 Dual                     Atomic Layer Deposition" at the Central North Carolina section of the American Chemical Society's 18th Annual Poster                                 Vendor Night.
           - Alla Letfullina won third place for her poster titled "Advancing Hybrid Polymer Electrolytes with Dinitrile Molecules" at the                         Central North Carolina section of the American Chemical Society's 18th Annual Poster Vendor Night.
           - Jamal Uddin, Reggie Goodwin and James Knoop present their posters at the Central North Carolina section of the American                         Chemical Society's 18th Annual Poster Vendor Night.

           - Prof. Sung-Jin Cho and Dr. Jong Soo Cho attended the International Battery Seminar 2018 where Dr. Jong Soo Cho presented his                 poster entitled "3D Conductive Woven Fabric Silicon Microparticle Anode for High Gravimetric Energy Density".
           - Dr. Ahn joins the Nanoenergy lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Welcome Dr. Ahn!
           - The Nanoenergy team presents for visiting school children as part of the Energy Day celebration at NCAT.

2017

  • December
           - Alla Letfullina successfully passes her preliminary thesis defense.
  • November
           - The team called, "Soelect", comprised of Alla Letfullina and Dr. Cho, has successfully completed the NSF funded iCorps program                  based on their work with solid polymer electrolyte. 
​           - A manuscript titled "Mechanically Prelithiated Silicon Nano Alloy as Highly Engineered Anode Material" is published in                                Electrochimica Acta (Impact factor: 4.798). Great job Pankaj and team!
           - Sangsub Han joins the Nanoenergy lab as a research scholar from Seoul National University. Welcome Sangsub!
           - James Knoop joins the Nanoenergy lab as a Nanoscience Ph. D. student. Welcome Jimmy!

           - Alla Letfullina wins second place for her poster at the NanoManufacturing Conference 2017 – JSNN.
           - Dr. Cho was awarded funding from Air Force Research Laboratory for the project entitiled "Solid State Electrolyte
             Enabled by Dual ALD", which will begin on Sept. 20, 2017. Great thanks to all team members!
           - Manuscript entitled "Nanoprocess and Nanoscale Surface Functionalization on Cathode Materials for Advanced Lithium-Ion                         Batteries" is accepted to Nanoscale (Impact factor: 7.367). Great job Pankaj, Jamal and Dr. Cho!

           - Pankaj Alaboina won the K.M. Abraham Travel Award for the 232nd ECS Meeting  | National Harbor, MD. 
           - Reggie Goodwin joins the Nanoenergy lab as a Nanoengineering Ph. D. student. Welcome Reggie!
  • July
           - Nano Energy team (PI: Prof. Cho) receives a research grant starting July 2017 from Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in Korea               for Development of solid electrolytes and its application for all-solid-state batteries.
             Thanks team for the great job.
  • June
           - Another paper titled "Nanostructured Advanced Cathode Materials Synthesis for Lithium-Ion Batteries" has been accepted for                      publication in Materials Today Energy. Once again, amazing job Nanoenergy team!
           - The work on "Exploring Lithium Deficiency in Layered Oxide Cathode for Li-ion Batteries" was selected as a back cover                                 for Advanced Sustainable Systems. Excellent job Jamal and team. 
           - A manuscript titled "A low-cost, environment-friendly lignin-polyvinyl alcohol nanofiber separator using a water-based                                method for safer and faster lithium-ion batteries" has been published in a Materials Science and Engineering Journal with the help              from our collaborator Lifeng Zhang. Great job Jamal, Pankaj, and Dr. Cho!
           - Prof. Sung-Jin Cho serves on the Department of Energy AMR (Annual Merit Review) meeting for Vehicle Technology Office
             (Applied Battery Research Program).

- A manuscript titled "Engineering and Optimization of Silicon-Iron-Manganese Nano Alloy Electrode for Enhanced Lithium-ion           Battery” detailing a study done by Pankaj K Alaboina, Jongsoo Cho, Md-Jamal Uddin, and Sung-Jin Cho is accepted to Nano-Micro     Letters (Impact Factor: 3.1).
- "Emerging Nanotechnologies in Rechargeable Energy Storage Systems" is published containing a chapter written by Prof. Cho, MD   Jamal Uddin and Pankaj Alaboina on a review of nano technology for cathode materials in batteries; eBook ISBN:                               9780323429962; Hardcover ISBN: 9780323429771.
- The nanoenergy lab attends Wake Forest University Physics Colloquium hosted by Dr. Veronica Augustyn, who is an Assistant            professor at North Carolina State University. 
​- A manuscript titled "Ex-situ Investigation of Anisotropic Interconnection in Silicon-Titanium-Nickel Alloy Anode Material"                 detailing a study done by Jong-Soo Cho, Pankaj K Alaboina, Sung-Jin Cho and other collaborators is accepted to Journal of The           Electrochemical Society. (Impact Factor: 3.266).

- Prof. Sung-Jin Cho in collaboration with Dr. Lee’s group at University of Colorado published a paper titled "In Situ Engineering
   of the Electrode-Electrolyte Interface for Stabilized Over-lithiated Cathodes" (DOI: 10.1002/adma.201604549) in Advanced
  Materials   (Impact factor: 18.96).
- Prof. Cho receives $200,000 EPA grant from Air Force Research Laboratory for nanoarchitectured solid state battery.
